Regular Season Round 6: Saitama - Okayama 62-93

Bottom-ranked Saitama (0-9) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to third ranked Okayama (8-4) 93-62 on Saturday evening. Okayama dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama's 18. Okayama had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Chris Washburn (203-93, college: TCU) who scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Tsubasa Kozakai (185-94) chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Keita Shinkawa (183-95) who recorded 13 points and American forward Brandan Striplin (196, college: Foothill CC) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Okayama have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-4 record having just two points less than leader Iwate. Loser Saitama still closes the standings with nine games lost. Okayama will meet at home Tokyo HT (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saitama will play against Kanazawa in Ishikawa and hopes to get finally their first victory.
