Regular Season Round 30: Fukuoka R. - Sendai 89ers 72-70

Important game to mention about took place in Fukuoka. Third ranked Rizing (17-13) saved a 2-point victory at home edging their close opponent Sendai 89ers (18-12) 72-70 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sendai 89ers. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Rizing forced 20 Sendai 89ers turnovers. Strangely Sendai 89ers outrebounded Rizing 43-29 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sendai 89ers were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward Gerald Beverly (202-93, college: Daemen) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the effort and forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) supported him with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Rizing's coach Josep Claros allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds by swingman Le'Bryan Nash (201-92, college: OK State) did not help to save the game for Sendai 89ers. Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: ASU) added 10 points and 13 rebounds. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Rizing moved-up to second place. Sendai 89ers at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 12 games lost. Rizing will play against league's leader Gunma at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sendai 89ers will play against Orange Vikings and hope to get back on the winning track.
