There was a small surprise in Beijing where sixteenth ranked Royal Fighters (13-22) outleveled 14th ranked Eagles (16-20) 110-83 on Saturday. Royal Fighters dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Eagles' 40. They outrebounded Eagles 55-31 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Royal Fighters looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Eagles' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Royal Fighters made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Bryon Allen (192-1992, college: GMU) who scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). His fellow American import point guard Trae Golden (189-1991, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. Four Royal Fighters players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Eugene German (183-1997, college: NIU) who recorded 50 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Ruize Wang (197-1995) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Royal Fighters have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixteenth place with 13-22 record. Loser Eagles keep the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Jiangsu D.. Royal Fighters will meet at home higher ranked Guangsha Lions (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eagles will play against Pioneers (#19) in Tianjin and hope to secure a win.
