Regular Season Round 29: Tianjin - Fujian S. 120-130

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Tianjin where 18th ranked Pioneers (5-21) were defeated by nineteenth ranked Sturgeons (4-22) 130-120 on Saturday. Sturgeons looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The best player for the winners was Bulgarian-American point guard Darius Adams (188-1989, college: Indianapolis) who had a double-double by scoring 60 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 10 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). The former international Linjian Chen (197-1993) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Taiwanese guard Benson Lin (193-1999, college: Bryant) produced 31 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American point guard Brandon Jefferson (175-1991, college: MSU Denver) added 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Sturgeons and five Pioneers players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Sturgeons maintains nineteenth place with 4-22 record. Loser Pioneers keep the eighteenth position with 21 games lost. Sturgeons will meet higher ranked Ducks (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pioneers will play against Royal Fighters (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
