There was no surprise in Qingdao where 14th ranked Eagles (8-8) were defeated by eighth ranked Sharks (9-6) 101-97 on Friday. Sharks forced 20 Eagles turnovers and outrebounded them 65-50 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Zhelin Wang (214-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds. American guard Melo Trimble (190-1995, college: Maryland, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Sharks' coach used entire bench in such tough game. American point guard Eugene German (183-1997, college: NIU) produced 29 points and 7 rebounds and South Sudanese-Australian center Duop Reath (210-1996, college: LSU) added 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sharks have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Eagles dropped to the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Sharks will meet at home Guangsha Lions (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Eagles will play against Loongs (#5) and hope to secure a win.
