Regular Season Round 29: Xinjiang FT - Tianjin 119-106

Not a big story in a game when 18th ranked Pioneers (5-22) lost to third ranked Flying Tigers (20-7) in Urumqi 106-119. Flying Tigers shot 65.7 percent from the field. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists. 32 personal fouls committed by Pioneers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international center Qi Zhou (217-96) who had a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Lithuanian power forward Donatas Motiejunas (213-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 30 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). American swingman CJ Trotter (192-88, college: S.Indiana) produced 18 points and 4 assists and forward Liu Shuai (205-95) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Pioneers players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Flying Tigers maintains third place with 20-7 record having just two points less than leader Liaoning FL. Pioneers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom. Flying Tigers' next round opponent will be Sturgeons (#17) in Jinjiang which should be an easy win for them. Pioneers will play on the road against Blue Whales in Sichuan and hope to win that game.
