The game in Zamboanga City supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Hong Kong HK Eastern (8-3) played at the court of 5th ranked Filipino Valientes (5-6). HK Eastern smashed Valientes 83-55 on Tuesday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Valientes. HK Eastern dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Valientes' 16. They outrebounded Valientes 48-33 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Canadian center Chris McLaughlin (208, college: Victoria) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American guard ODarien Bassett (187-1986, college: Troy) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists during the contest. Four HK Eastern players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Mario Chalmers (188-1986, college: Kansas) responded with 19 points and point guard Rudy Lingganay (178-1986) scored 14 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. HK Eastern moved-up to second place, which they share with Saigon Heat. Valientes at the other side keep the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Macau. HK Eastern will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Valientes will play against Louvre S. (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
