Palestine registered the first win at the WABA Championship. They knocked down Yemen to gain 1-3 record. Nicola Fadayel (194-F-87) scored 18 points for the winners. Yemen slipped at 0-4 record.
Palestine stunned their opponents in the opening quarter. They erupted for 30 points to build a 14-point advantage. Palestine stayed in front throughout the second quarter. They arrived at halftime up 22 points 52:30. Palestine held Yemen to 10 points in the third term to ensure a 27-point lead with one quarter remaining. Yemen managed to outscore their rivals in the fourth term but it just sweetened the pill for the team. Sakakini Sani (204-C-88) produced 15 points and 9 rebounds, while Jamal Abu-Shamala (196-F/G-87, college: Minnesota) had 13 points, 7 assists, 8 rebounds and 6 steals in the victory. Mohammed Yaeesh (182-PG-93) responded with 19 points for Yemen. Ahmed Abdulghafor (200-C-88) and Radhi BaYashot (200-C-89) netted 10 points each in the loss.
