Iran - Yemen 85:35

Defending champion Iran secured a confident start to their 12th WABA Championship campaign. They rallied past Yemen in the opener. Samad Nik Khahbahrami (198-F-83) scored 18 points and pulled down 9 rebounds to lead the winners.
Iran ensured a quick start. They dominated every facet of the game to build a 19:7 lead after ten minutes. Iran maintained the lead throughout the second quarter. They established a 42:18 halftime lead. Things hardly changed in the third term. Iran stayed in full control taking a 59:32 advantage into the fourth period. Yemen managed just three points in the final quarter to surrender at the end. Mohammad Aklaghi finished with 15 points, while Hamed Afagh (190-G-83) added 14 points for Iran. Sabri Sadda (89) and Hakim Bris answered with 9 points each for Yemen.
