U18 WABA Championship: Yemen gain first win in Tripoli

Yemen posted the first win at the 13th WABA Championship in Tripoli. They overcame Jordan to improve at 1-1 record. Five teams are fighting for the top three places to qualify for U18 Asia Championship to be held in Mongolia in August. Top three teams will be decided on the aggregate result from both 12th and 13th WABA Championships.
Yemen started the game strongly. They accumulated a 23:9 lead ten minutes into the game. Yemen maintained the lead throughout the second quarter. They registered a 40:29 halftime lead. Jordan adjusted their defence in the third term. They managed to narrow the deficit to a single point 47:48 at the final intermission. Jordan pulled in front for a 51:48 lead midway through the final stanza. But Yemen bounced back late in regulation and escaped with a tough win at the end. Hani Al-Debashi posted 17 points for Yemen. Aiman Sadakah (186-F-94) contributed 15 points and 9 rebounds in the victory. Bader Khatib responded with 17 points for Jordan. Sa'ad Al Momani finished with 12 points in the loss.
