Yemen U18 - Lebanon U18 79:75

Yemen recorded an overtime win over Lebanon in the classification round of the U18 Asia Championship. Mohammed Yaeesh (182-G-93) scored 31 points to pace Yemen to the victory. The hosts of the tournament will take on Philippines for the fifth overall place tomorrow. Lebanon will wrap up their campaign against Japan.
Lebanon got a narrow lead at the end of the opening quarter. They entered the second stanza up by 4 points 21:17. Yemen opened the second stanza on a 10:2 run to surge ahead. Mohammed Yaeesh helped the home side to stay in charge as Yemen established a 37:35 advantage at halftime. The lead changed hands for several times throughout close third term. Lebanon managed to ensure a 53:51 lead at the final intermission. Constantin Kodsi stretched the lead to 6 points midway through the fourth stanza. However Yemen survived as Samer Abdullah (92) and Mohammed Yaeesh drew things level at the end of regulation 68:68. Samer Abdullah knocked down three points to put Yemen ahead at the start of overtime. Lebanon erased the deficit but Yemen went on a 7:1 run to clear off. Karim Jadayel (191-F-92) and Karam Mechref (188-G-92) dragged Lebanon within 4 points but Yemen hung on to the win the game.
Samer Abdullah tallied 23 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Sabri Sadaqah (188-F-93) accounted for 18 points for Yemen. Samer Ozeir (201-F/C-92) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds for Lebanon. Karam Mechref delivered 16 points and 10 caroms in the loss.
