Edo number one in Vietnam VBA for round 9 (by Hoops Agents)

American Forward Karachi Edo (196-F-1994) had a great game in the last round for Danang Dragons, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 31-year old player had a double-double of 33 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat Islanders (#6, 2-10) 96-82. Dragons maintains the 5th position in Vietnamese VBA. Dragons is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-5 record. In the team's last game Edo had a remarkable 81.3% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Dragons, through which he has constantly improved. Former Fresno State University star has very solid stats this year. Edo is in league's top in points (3rd best: 25.4ppg), rebounds (4th best: 15.9rpg) and averages impressive 1.2bpg and 58.1% FGP. Worth to mention Edo played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second best player in last round's games was another Dragons' star - young American Timothy Simmons (195-PF-1992). Simmons had a very good evening with a double-double of 18 points and 14 assists. Of course together with Edo he helped Danang Dragons with another comfortable win 96-82 over slightly lower-ranked Islanders (#6, 2-10) being unquestionably team leader. Dragons' 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 6-5 record is not bad and everything may still change. Simmons is one of the most experienced players at Dragons and similarly like Karachi Edo has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Ukrainian forward Yevgen Sakhniuk (201-F-1995) of Ho Chi Minh City Wings (#7). Sakhniuk scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). Despite Sakhniuk's great performance the Wings lost 72-80 to the higher-ranked Heat (#2, 8-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. City Wings can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-11 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Sakhniuk has a very solid season. In 3 games in Vietnam he scored 19.7ppg.

7. Algin Andaya (PF-1997) of Islanders - 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists
8. Nichole Ubalde (SF-2001) of Islanders - 18 points and 6 rebounds
9. Davon Dillard (196-SG-1996) of Heat - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Dajuan Madden (188-G-1996) of Catfish - 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
