American Malek Green (201-F-1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for Can Tho Catfish and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 25-year old forward had a double-double of 50 points and 19 rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team City Wings (#5, 0-2) with 18-point margin 123-105. Thanks to this victory Catfish moved-up to the 4th position in Vietnamese VBA. Catfish is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. In the team's last game Green had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Catfish and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Youngstown State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Green is league's best scorer averaging so far 36.5ppg. Green is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 15.5rpg) and averages solid 59.3% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Alfred Hollins (198-F-1999) of Saigon Heat. Hollins impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he led Heat to another comfortable win outscoring Islanders (0-3) 114-91. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Hollins is one of the most experienced players at Heat and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.0ppg (#7). He also registered 9.5 boards per game. The University of Texas at El Paso alumni Hollins played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

The third best performed player last round was American John Fields (205-F/C-1988) of second-ranked Nhatrang Dolphins. Fields showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, 20 rebounds (!!!) and 6 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Dolphins, leading his team to a 123-77 easy win against City Wings (#5, 0-2). Dolphins has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Fields also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Fields has a great season in Vietnam. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.0ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 19.0rpg (#1 in league).

9. Darrius Austin (201-F/C-1998) of City Wings - 25 points and 14 rebounds
10. Michael Soy (182-PG-1997) of Catfish - 25 points and 7 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
