VBA Round 24 (Regular Season): Dragons edge City Wings by three points

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 24 in the VBA took place in Danang. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Wings (2-15) to fifth ranked Dragons (5-12) 96-93 in the game for the fifth place. The best player for the winners was American point guard Bryan Nguyen (178-2000, college: Alaska) who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Guard Nhan Huynh Truc (180-2002) chipped in 29 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Maurice Gordon (198-1999, college: Valdosta St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 7 blocks. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Dragons maintains fifth position with 5-12 record. City Wings at the other side stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost.
An exciting game was played in Can Tho. Third ranked Buffaloes faced their close opponent Catfish. Guests from Hanoi (11-5) defeated host Catfish (10-7) 89-82. It was a good game for American forward Hassan Thomas (203-1996, college: Emporia St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Ruot Monyyong contributed with 21 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Buffaloes' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Khoa Le Khac Dang (188-2003) replied with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for Catfish. Buffaloes have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Catfish at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost.
An exciting game was played in Saigon. First ranked Heat faced 3rd ranked Catfish. Host Heat (14-5) smashed guests from Can Tho (10-7) 97-69. Worth to mention a great performance of Jevonnie Scott who helped to win the game recording 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Tam Dinh Thanh with 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-5 record. Loser Catfish keeps the third place with seven games lost.





Catfish - Buffaloes 82-89

An exciting game was played in Can Tho. Third ranked Buffaloes faced their close opponent Catfish. Guests from Hanoi (11-5) defeated host Catfish (10-7) 89-82. Buffaloes outrebounded Catfish 44-23 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Hassan Thomas (203-1996, college: Emporia St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The other American import forward Ruot Monyyong (210-1998, college: UALR) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Buffaloes' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Khoa Le Khac Dang (188-2003) replied with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Tam Dinh Thanh (192-1990) added 18 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Catfish.
