VBA Round 21 of Regular Season

The Regular Season in VBA is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game in Danang was quite interesting. Second ranked Catfish (9-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Dragons (4-10). Catfish defeated Dragons 84-70 on Thursday. Catfish outrebounded Dragons 45-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian forward Yevgen Sakhniuk (201-1995, college: Jefferson) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Hung Dang Thai (185-1993) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Marquis Davison (196-2000, college: Columbus St., agency: Worldwide SM) who recorded 31 points and 9 rebounds. Catfish maintains second place with 9-5 record having seven points less than leader Heat, which they share with Buffaloes. Dragons at the other side keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Catfish will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dragons will play again on the road against the league's second-placed Catfish (#2) in Can Tho and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
The game in Ho Chi Minh supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Buffaloes (9-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Wings (1-14). Buffaloes did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 111-91. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for forward Hassan Thomas (203-1996, college: Emporia St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Ruot Monyyong contributed with 24 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Buffaloes' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Chrishon Briggs (195-1995, college: CSUB) answered with a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists for City Wings. Buffaloes moved-up to second place, which they share with Catfish. City Wings lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.





Dragons - Catfish 70-84

City Wings - Buffaloes 91-111

Buffaloes outrebounded City Wings 54-43 including 17 on the offensive glass. Buffaloes players were unselfish on offense dishing 35 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by City Wings' players. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for forward Hassan Thomas (203-1996, college: Emporia St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Ruot Monyyong (210-1998, college: UALR) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Four Buffaloes players scored in double figures. Buffaloes' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
