Sakhniuk number one in Vietnam VBA for round 17

Ukrainian Forward Yevgen Sakhniuk (201-F-1995) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Can Tho Catfish, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 29-year old player had a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat Dolphins (#4, 6-6) 72-58. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Catfish maintains the 2nd position in Vietnamese VBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Catfish will need more victories to improve their 8-3 record. In the team's last game Sakhniuk had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Catfish's top player in his first season with the team. Former Jefferson University star has very solid stats this year. Sakhniuk is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 12.2rpg), assists (2nd best: 6.3apg) and averages impressive 1.9bpg and 63.9% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Marquis Davison (196-G-2000, agency: Worldwide SM) of Danang Dragons. Davison had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 16 rebounds. It was enough for Dragons to edge the higher-ranked Heat (#1, 12-4) 74-69. Dragons' 5th position in the standings has not changed. 8 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Dragons managed to get this year. Davison is a newcomer at Dragons, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.3ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 12.8rpg and 4.0apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Dragons' star - American center Max Lee Allen (206-C-2002). Allen scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of Danang Dragons, helping his team with a 74-69 win against the higher-ranked Heat (#1, 12-4). Dragons can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-8 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Allen has individually a great season in Vietnam. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 25.2ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 12.5rpg (5th best).

9. Dominique Tham (195-C-1996) of Dolphins - 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Vinh Nguyen Huynh Phu (203-F/C-1998) of Heat - 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists
