Chrishon Briggs gets MVP of the Week award for Vietnamese VBA

American Chrishon Briggs (195-F-1995) put on an amazing game in the last round for Ho Chi Minh City Wings and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 29-year old forward had a double-double of 33 points and 16 rebounds, while his team lost the game against Catfish (#2, 6-2) 78-87. Wings maintains the 5th position in Vietnamese VBA. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. City Wings have already lost 8 games and recorded just one victory. In the team's last game Briggs had a remarkable 56.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Wings' top player in his first season with the team. California State University Bakersfield graduate has very impressive stats this year. Briggs is league's best scorer averaging so far 27.9ppg. Briggs is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 12.8rpg) and averages solid 56.2% FGP. Worth to mention Briggs played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Canadian forward Jevonnie Scott (201-F-2000) of league's best team Saigon Heat. Scott impressed basketball fans with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course he led Heat to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Buffaloes (#4, 5-4) 95-72. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Heat consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team has currently 9-3 record. Scott is a newcomer at Heat and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.8ppg (#5). He also registered 10.3 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Ukrainian Yevgen Sakhniuk (201-F-1995) of second-ranked Can Tho Catfish. Sakhniuk showcased his all-around game by recording 19 points, 16 rebounds (!!!) and 5 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Catfish, leading his team to a 87-78 win against the lower-ranked City Wings (#5, 1-8). Catfish needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 2 lost games. Sakhniuk has a great season in Vietnam. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.6rpg (5th best) and assists with 6.9apg (2nd best). He also has 2.3spg, 1.8bpg and a FGP of 66.3%.
