January number one in Vietnam VBA for round 23- August 17, 2023
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 41 points and 21 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Dragons (#7, 0-14) with 32-point margin 115-83. It allowed Buffaloes to consolidate first place in the Vietnamese VBA. Buffaloes have a solid 12-3 record. In the team's last game January had a remarkable 56.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Buffaloes' top player in his first season with the team. Former California State University San Bernardino star has very solid stats this year. January is in league's top in points (3rd best: 27.4ppg) and rebounds (3rd best: 16.1rpg). The second best player in last round's games was young American John Fields (205-F/C-1988, agency: Octagon Europe) of Warriors. Fields had a very good evening with a double-double of 26 points and 22 rebounds. Bad luck as Warriors lost that game 89-95 to slightly lower-ranked City Wings (#5, 6-9). Warriors managed to keep the same 3rd spot in the standings. His team's 9-6 record is not bad at all. Fields is a newcomer at Warriors, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.5ppg (#6). His other stats are also decent: 17.6rpg and 3.3apg. Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Jeremy Smith (190-G-1991) of City Wings (#5). Smith got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He went also for eleven rebounds . He was a key player of City Wings, leading his team to a 95-89 win against slightly higher-ranked Warriors (#3, 9-6). The chances of City Wings ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Smith could help City Wings to bring them higher in the standings. Smith has a great season in Vietnam. After 14 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 28.9ppg (2nd best), rebounds with 9.9rpg (8th best) and assists with 4.6apg (7th best). He also has FGP: 58.7% and 3PT: 45.9%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Yevgen Sakhniuk (201-F-1995) of City Wings - 18 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists 5. Vinh Nguyen Quang (180-G-1995) of City Wings - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists 6. Duong Nguyen Tien (178-SG-1990) of Buffaloes - 21 points and 3 rebounds 7. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
