Barkley number one in Vietnam VBA for round 20 (by Hoops Agents)

American Swingman Kentrell Barkley (195-G/F-1996, agency: Haylett Sports) had a very impressive game in the last round for top-ranked Saigon Heat, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 20.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds, while his team outclassed Catfish (#6, 3-9) with 41-point margin 111-70. It allowed Saigon Heat to take over top position in the Vietnamese VBA. Saigon Heat has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 10-1. In the team's last game Barkley had a remarkable 57.9% from 2-point range. He turned to be Saigon Heat's top player in his first season with the team. Former East Carolina University star has very solid stats this year. Barkley is league's best scorer averaging so far 28.7ppg and leads league in rebounds with 17.7rpg. Barkley is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 7.0apg) and averages impressive 63.1% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Dominique Tham (195-C-1996) of Dolphins. Tham had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Dolphins was edged by slightly higher-ranked Warriors (#3, 8-5) 86-83. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Dolphins still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 7-6 record is not bad at all. Tham is well-known at Dolphins and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Dolphins' star - American forward Robert Sampson (203-F-1992). Sampson showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the last round. Despite Sampson's great performance Dolphins lost 83-86 to #3 ranked Warriors. But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Dolphins needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 7 victories and 6 lost games. Sampson has a great season in Vietnam. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.8ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 15.5rpg (5th best). He also has 2.2spg, 2.0bpg and FGP: 65.3%. Sampson attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
