Griffin number one in Vietnam VBA for round 17

American Guard Brachon Griffin (185-G-1992) put on an amazing game in the last round for Catfish, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 31-year old player was the main contributor (32 points, five rebounds and eight assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat City Wings (#6, 3-8) 95-89. Catfish is placed at 5th position in Vietnamese VBA. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 7 games and recorded just three victories. In the team's last game Griffin had a remarkable 61.5% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Catfish, through which he has constantly improved. Former Elizabeth City State University star has very solid stats this year. Griffin is in league's top in points (6th best: 24.4ppg), assists (3rd best: 6.9apg) and averages impressive 2.1spg.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Jeremy Smith (190-G-1991) of City Wings. Smith had a very good evening with a double-double of 38 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as City Wings lost that game 89-95 to slightly higher-ranked Catfish (#5, 3-7). This loss caused City Wings to drop to 6th position in the standings. 8 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories City Wings managed to get this year. Smith is one of the most experienced players at City Wings and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 29.3ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 9.7rpg and 4.8apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was another City Wings' star - Ukrainian forward Yevgen Sakhniuk (201-F-1995). Sakhniuk scored 16 points and grabbed eighteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Sakhniuk's great performance City Wings lost 89-95 to slightly higher-ranked Catfish (#5, 3-7). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. City Wings can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-8 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Sakhniuk has individually a great season in Vietnam. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 15.8rpg (7th best) and assists with 3.8apg (6th best).

10. Cong Dinh Tien (186-SG-1996) of Buffaloes - 12 points and 5 rebounds
