VBA Round 7: Heat defeat Dolphins in the game between Top 4 teams- June 24, 2023

Dolphins - Saigon Heat 79-85 An interesting game for Heat (4-0) which played road game in Nha Trang against 3rd placed Dolphins (2-2). Leader Heat managed to get a 6-point victory 85-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dolphins. Heat dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Dolphins' 32. They outrebounded Dolphins 54-43 including 21 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Kentrell Barkley (195-1996, college: ECU, agency: Haylett Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 26 rebounds and 7 assists. International power forward Phu Vinh Nguyen (203-1998) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Robert Sampson (203-1992, college: Georgia Tech) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 24 rebounds and the other American import guard Madarious Gibbs (185-1993, college: Texas Southern) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Dolphins. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Heat have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 4-0 record. Dolphins at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Heat will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dolphins will play on the road against the league's second-placed Buffaloes (#2) in Hanoi and it may be a tough game between close rivals. It was a very good performance for guard Sameen Swint (193-1995, college: GBC) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Warriors' coach used entire bench in such tough game. Center DeAngelo Hamilton (203-1990, college: WSU) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Brachon Griffin (185-1992, college: ECSU) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Catfish. Four Catfish players scored in double figures. Warriors moved-up to second place, which they share with Buffaloes. Loser Catfish keeps the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with City Wings. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
