VBA Round 12: HCMC W. loses to Hanoi B.

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most important game in the last round took place in Hanoi between second ranked HCMC W. (8-7) and fifth ranked Hanoi B. (7-8) on Saturday night. HCMC W. was defeated by Hanoi B. on the road 63-78. Hanoi B. dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to HCMC W.'s 42. Hanoi B. forced 24 HCMC W. turnovers and outrebounded them 58-32 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for American forward Michael Bell (206-82, college: FAU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 24 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Forward Cong Dinh-Tien (182-96) contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Vinh Nguyen-Quang replied with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for HCMC W.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hanoi B. moved-up to fourth place. HCMC W. at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost.

In the last game of round 12 bottom-ranked Danang D. was beaten by Saigon H. on the road 88-74.
The most impressive performance of 12th round was 38 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds by Nix Tavarion of Saigon H..

Saigon H. - Danang D. 88-74

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Saigon Heat (9-6) beat at home bottom-ranked Danang D. (5-10) 88-74 on Sunday. Saigon Heat dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Danang D.'s 46. They outrebounded Danang D. 52-31 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American Nix Tavarion (201-92, college: Midwestern St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. The other American import guard Richard Nguyen (, college: Pierce JC) contributed with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Anthony January (203-93, college: CS San Bernar.) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and the former international swingman Hung Nguyen Van (193-80) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Danang D.Four Danang D. players scored in double figures. Saigon Heat maintains second position with 9-6 record having just one point less than leader Can Tho CF. Loser Danang D. stay at the bottom place with ten games lost.
