Vietnam grabs an important win

Vietnam made up Group B in Asian Championship for Women in Korea. The team had a great start so far and stays in the middle of the group with 2-2. Just an hour ago Vietnam downed Singapore 74:71 to move on.
The tournament started with a win over Sri Lanka. The game resembled carousel and was won due to the last quarter spurt. Sri Lanka won the opening quarter 21:15, however was caught by our team later in the game. Vietnam benefited with 28:4 win in the last quarter to finish at 75:52. L. Nguyen Thi led the winners with 19 points and 12 rebounds. N. Nguyen Thi posted 14 points and made 11 rebounds.
In the second game Vietnam was smashed by India 62:111. There were one too many errors in the way Indian women played almost the entire duration of the first quarter. Their defense looked rather sluggish as the nimble-footed Vietnamese made repeated inroads through the centre. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha scored 14 points for Vietnam.
In game 3 Vietnam was defeated by Hong Kong 59:78. Again Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha top-scored for the team with 20 points, while Ngyuen Thi Le Van added 15.
The fourth day has only started, but Vietnam could celebrate the win already. Just an hour ago the team won over Singapore 74:71. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha top-scored for the winners with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Vietnam will have the last game of the preliminary round tomorrow against Uzbekistan.
