SHARJAH — February 15 was the final day of the 8th GCC Ladies Tournament, a day marked by great moments of achievements as the UAE's Group A volleyball and basketball teams were awarded a prize of Dhs5,000 and the Bahraini team was recognised for showing the best Sportive Spirit.

The highly successful tournament was held under the patronage of Shaikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, and the Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies Club. The Shaikha presented winning teams and participants with cash prizes and trophies during a truly memorable closing event.

Just like the opening day of the tournament, the final day of the tournament drew huge crowd. The closing ceremony was attended by Aysha bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, member of the Consulting Committee of the High Board of Family Affairs, and Shaikha Amal bint Khaled Al Qassimi, who is the head of the Society of Affairs and Public Relations at the Technical University, and Shaikha Khawla bint Khaled Al Nahyan. Unlike the opening of the tournament, which saw the UAE team claim victory over the Bahraini team, the results at the final volleyball match took everyone by surprise.
