Kuwaiti Fatat team will not take part in the anticipated 13th Arab Women Basketball Championship, to be held in the UAE.
The event will kick off on Wednesday May 24th under the patronage of HRH princess Haya Bint Al Hussein at Maktoum Bin Mohammad hall in Ahli club.
Now the final count of teams to actually appear in the event is ten representing the following countries: Jordan, Iraq, Morocco, Algeria, Lebanon, Syria , the UAE, Egypt and Bahrain.
Now 10 teams in the 13th Arab Women Basketball Championship, to be hosted in the UAE May 24th - June 1st.
According to Hanafi Abu Taleb, secretary general of the Arab Basketball Federation, the draw for the event will take place on May 22nd and the teams will be divided up into two main groups.
Participating in the championship will be: Jordanian Orthodoxi, Emirati Ahli, Egyptian Sporting, Bahraini Muharraq, Iraqi Slemaneyya, Algerian Olympique, Moroccan Fatah Rabati, and Lebanese Antarctic and Homintmin.
Ladies of Ahli basketball club seized the title of the 1st ladies basketball league in Sharqa.
The league witnessed the participation of four teams in all and ran for about two weeks.
Ahli ladies beat Zayed University team 91-40, with 51 points in difference, in the final game.
Madrasat Al Ma'rifa in Sharqa were handed the bronze medal from Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammad Al Qasemi, who also crowned the top two teams with gold and silver.
