Round 8 most important game was a victory of Banijas over 8th ranked Al Wahda 79-74 on Monday night. Banijas (3-5) moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Al Wahda dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Al Jazeera and Al Dhafra. Banijas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Abu Dhabi Al Jazeera.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Al Bataeh (4-4) against top-ranked Al Naser (8-0) on Sunday night. Host Al Bataeh unexpectedly was defeated by in 77-95. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Bataeh. Al Naser have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Ahli Shabab. Al Bataeh at the other side dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Al Naser's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Dubai Ahli Shabab.
D1 top team - Ahli Shabab (8-0) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat seventh ranked Al Sharjah (6-2) in Dubai 86-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Sharjah. Ahli Shabab have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-0 record, which they share with Al Naser. Loser Al Sharjah dropped to the third place with two games lost. Ahli Shabab's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Dubai to the arena Al Naser.
Bottom-ranked Al Ain is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to ninth ranked Al Dhafra (2-6) 74-67. Al Dhafra moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Al Wahda and Al Jazeera. Al Ain at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with eight games lost. Al Dhafra's next round opponent will be higher ranked Al Wasl (#4) in Dubai and it may be quite challenging game. Al Ain will play against Al Bataeh (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Al Bataeh - Al Naser 77-95

Ahli Shabab Dubai (D1) signed 33-year old Bulgarian ex-international power forward Cedric Simmons (206-107kg-86, college: NC State). He joins another USA player Sammy Monroe which is already in the roster.
Simmons is a dual citizen owning also American passport. He has played for the last two seasons at Kalev/Cramo in Latvian LatEstBL. Simmons managed to play in three leagues last year

Defending champion Ahli Shabab Dubai (D1) added to their roster 33-year old American (has also Iraqi passport) forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry). He played recently at Homentmen in Lebanese LBL league. He helped them to make it to the Supercup final. The last season Monroe played at Al Gharafa in D1 where in 18 games he had very impressive stats: 20.3ppg, 10.1rpg, 5.8apg (top 4) and 1.8spg.
