Al Sharjah (D1) strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old American forward Tyler Wilkerson (203-109kg-88, college: Marshall). He played in the summer at Gallitos de Isabela in Puerto Rican BSN league. In three games he recorded 15.0ppg, 8.0rpg and 2.3apg. The last season Wilkerson played at Ahli Shabab.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2012.
Among other achievements Wilkerson received Asia-Basket.com All-PBA Commissioner's Cup Defensive Player of the Year award in 2016.
He is a very experienced player. Thanks to Wilkerson's pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Asia, Latin America and of course North America) in six different countries. Wilkerson has played previously professionally in China (Guizhou and Shaanxi Wolves), Israel, Korea (KCC Egis), Philippines (SM Beermen) and NBA G League (Austin Spurs and Delaware 87ers).
He attended Marshall University until 2010 and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
