Al Sharjah (ULB) landed 31-year old American 198cm forward Alex Young (college: IUPUI) for upcoming season. Young joins another USA player Delwan Graham who is already in the roster.
He played last summer at Al Ahly in Egyptian Superleague. He helped them to make it to the cup final and to the league semifinals.
He is a very experienced player. Young has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to six different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in China (Beijing), France (Chalons Reims), Israel (Galil Gilboa and Ironi Nahariya), Italy (Cd'Orlando and Basket Barcellona), Russia (Enisey) and The Basketball Tournament (Armored Athlete and Midwest Dream).
Among many awards he played in the final of Egyptian League in 2020. Young was also voted to Afrobasket.com All-Egyptian Superleague Import Player of the Year in 2020.
He attended Indiana Univ-Purdue Univ-Indianapolis until 2012 and it will be his tenth season in pro basketball.
Young's game is described as: Very techincally skilled player, he knows how to move on the court and how to defend. Can score a lot, he's very athletic and has a solid body. Great upside, could become a star at European level.
