TBL Round 7 (Second Stage): HiTech beats Bangkok Tigers in a derby game- August 19, 2019
The Second Stage in TBL just ended. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Mad Goat - SWU 77-72 There was no surprise in Nakorn Phantom where 7th ranked SWU (4-12) was defeated by third ranked Mad Goat (10-6) 77-72 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Mad Goat had a 34-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for Jamaican-American center Anthony Allen (213-92, college: Oklahoma St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 22 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American forward Scott Sill (206-92, college: Delaware St.) helped adding 7 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Mad Goat players scored in double figures. At the losing side international power forward Nithipol Sawathavorn (189-95) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and guard Manatkawin Booddoung (177) scored 16 points. SWU's coach Thongchat Phucharoen tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Mad Goat maintains third place with 10-6 record having five points less than leader T-REX, which they share with Raptors. SWU lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Thunders. HiTech (15-1) crushed visiting Bangkok Tigers (5-11) by 54 points 130-76. HiTech dominated down low during the game scoring 102 of its points in the paint compared to Bangkok Tigers' 30. HiTech forced 25 Bangkok Tigers turnovers and outrebounded them 52-24 including a 23-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 51 assists comparing to just 23 passes made by Bangkok Tigers' players. American swingman Raymond Canady Jr. (201-84, college: Valdosta St.) fired 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Wuttipong Dasom chipped in 26 points and 8 rebounds. Canady Jr. is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. British forward Joe Mvuezolo (197-96, college: Montana St.) produced 30 points and guard Patiparn Krutsorn added 18 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Five HiTech and four Bangkok Tigers players scored in double figures. HiTech have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-1 record, which they share with TGE. Bangkok Tigers at the other side keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. Fifth ranked Raptors (10-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Thunders (4-12). Raptors did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 97-77 on Sunday. Raptors looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for American point guard Avery Scharer (185-86, college: Shoreline CC) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals. His fellow American import center Anthony McClain (211-88, college: Cincinnati) helped adding 27 points and 15 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Scharer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the losing side Cameroonian forward Gabriel Yeumo (200-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Cameroonian forward Fils Dongmo (201-89) scored 4 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Thunders' coach rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Raptors moved-up to third place, which they share with Mad Goat. Newly promoted Thunders dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with SWU. Second ranked TGE faced 4th placed Shoot it Dragon. Host TGE (15-1) smashed guests from (9-7) 91-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Shoot it Dragon. They outrebounded Shoot it Dragon 54-33 including a 40-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. TGE players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Attapong Leelapipatkul (185) who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists. The former international Anucha Langsui (200-93) contributed with 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Maurice Kirby (206-94, college: IUPUI) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import point guard David Lawson (185-89, college: Reinhardt) added 17 points and 8 assists in the effort for Shoot it Dragon. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for TGE. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Hitech. Newly promoted Shoot it Dragon keeps the fourth place with seven games lost.
