TBL Round 6 (Second Stage): Thunders defeat Bangkok Tigers in the closest game of the week

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 6 in the TBL took place in Bangkok. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Bangkok Tigers (5-11) to eighth ranked Thunders (4-12) 69-66 on Saturday evening. Thunders outrebounded Bangkok Tigers 63-33 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cameroonian forward Gabriel Yeumo (200-88) had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 22 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Suriya Jamkrajang (190-97) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists during the contest. Thunders' coach used entire bench in such tough game. The best for the losing side was British forward Joe Mvuezolo (197-96, college: Montana St.) with 27 points and 5 steals. Newly promoted Thunders maintains eighth position with 4-12 record. Bangkok Tigers at the other side keep the sixth place with 11 games lost. Thunders are looking forward to face higher ranked Raptors (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bangkok Tigers' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Bangkok to the arena HiTech.

Wuttipong Dasom notched 32 points (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Raymond Canady-Jr supported him with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Even a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds by Jamaican-American center Anthony Allen (213-92, college: Oklahoma St.) did not help to save the game for Mad Goat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. HiTech have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-1 record. Mad Goat at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. HiTech's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Bangkok Bangkok Tigers.

The best player for the winners was Morakinyo Williams who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Manatsawe Booddoung who recorded 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. TGE have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 14-2 record behind leader T-REX. SWU lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 12 games lost. TGE will meet at home Shoot it Dragon (#4) in the next round. SWU will play against Mad Goat in Nakorn Phantom and hope to secure a win.
The game in supposed to be also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers Raptors (9-7) played at the court of fifth ranked Shoot it Dragon (10-6). Shoot it Dragon smashed Raptors 106-81. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for Maurice Kirby who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 27 rebounds and 5 assists. Shoot it Dragon's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shoot it Dragon moved-up to fourth place. Raptors at the other side dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Shoot it Dragon's next round opponent will be league's second-placed TGE and it may be the game of the week. Raptors will play against Thunders and hope to win that game.



SWU - TGE 71-76

The game in was also quite interesting. Second ranked TGE (14-2) played at the court of 7th ranked SWU (5-12). TGE managed to secure a 5-point victory 76-71 on Saturday. TGE looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was British center Morakinyo Williams (210-88, college: Citadel) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Attapong Leelapipatkul (185) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Manatsawe Booddoung (176) who recorded 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and center John Kabwe (195-84) added 13 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Four SWU players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. TGE have an impressive five-game winning streak. HiTech dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to Mad Goat's 28. HiTech forced 33 Mad Goat turnovers and had a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 38 assists comparing to just 22 passes made by Mad Goat's players. HiTech brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Wuttipong Dasom notched 32 points (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American swingman Raymond Canady-Jr (201-84, college: Valdosta St.) supported him with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Canady Jr. is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five HiTech players scored in double figures.
