TBL Round 2 (Second Stage): Mad Goat edges Shoot it Dragon by three points

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in TBL. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 2 in the TBL took place in Nakorn Phantom. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of Shoot it Dragon (7-5) to Mad Goat (8-4) 86-83 on Saturday evening. Mad Goat looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Shoot it Dragon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was center Anecha Kongpui (190) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Scott Sill (206-92, college: Delaware St.) chipped in 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard David Lawson (185-89, college: Reinhardt) produced 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Shoot it Dragon's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Mad Goat is looking forward to face Bangkok Tigers (#7) at home in the next round. Shoot it Dragon will play against SWU and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Bangkok supposed to be also worth to mention about. Raptors (8-4) played at the court of Bangkok Tigers (4-8). Raptors smashed Bangkok Tigers 113-77. American center Anthony McClain (211-88, college: Cincinnati) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds. Avery Scharer contributed with 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 14 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Raptors' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. British forward Joe Mvuezolo (197-96, college: Montana St.) replied with 33 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for Bangkok Tigers. Raptors will play against TGE in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bangkok Tigers will play against Mad Goat (#4) in Nakorn Phantom and hope to get back on the winning track.

In the last two games of round 2 Thunders were crushed by TGE in a road game 90-59. Hitech beat SWU at home 67-55.



Mad Goat - Shoot it Dragon 86-83

TGE - Thunders 90-59

There was no surprise when Thunders (3-9) were crushed on the road by TGE (10-2) 90-59. TGE shot 25 for 38 from the free-throw line, while Thunders only scored two points from the stripe. They outrebounded Thunders 61-32 including a 29-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. TGE players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Thunders were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Anucha Langsui (200-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 5 rebounds. Nattapol Kupradit (175) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Cameroonian forward Fils Dongmo (201-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Pattarapol Sangsri (178-99) added 9 points in the effort for Thunders. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. TGE will play against Raptors (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Thunders will play against Hitech (#1) in Bangkok and hope to get back on the winning track.

Hitech - SWU 67-55

No shocking result in a game in Bangkok where Hitech (11-1) defeated SWU (5-7) 67-55. Hitech dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to SWU's 24. Hitech forced 22 SWU turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American power forward Kenny Hall (206-90, college: Tennessee) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points and 9 rebounds. The former international Wattana Suttisin (183-85) contributed with 6 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Center John Kabwe (195-84) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and guard Manatsawe Booddoung (176) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for SWU. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hitech will play against Thunders (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SWU will play against Shoot it Dragon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game in Bangkok supposed to be also worth to mention about. Raptors (8-4) played at the court of Bangkok Tigers (4-8). Raptors smashed Bangkok Tigers 113-77. Raptors forced 27 Bangkok Tigers turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists. American center Anthony McClain (211-88, college: Cincinnati) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds. The other American import point guard Avery Scharer (185-86, college: Shoreline CC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 14 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Scharer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Raptors' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. British forward Joe Mvuezolo (197-96, college: Montana St.) replied with 33 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and American forward Trayvond Massenburg (203, college: Brandon) added 19 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Bangkok Tigers. Raptors will play against TGE in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bangkok Tigers will play against Mad Goat (#4) in Nakorn Phantom and hope to get back on the winning track.
