TBL Round 8 of Regular Season- July 8, 2019
The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
SWU - Mad Goat 77-69 An interesting game was also surprising road defeat of 4th ranked Mad Goat (#4) in a game versus SWU (#8) 77-69. SWU forced 19 Mad Goat turnovers. The winners were led by center John Kabwe (195-84) who scored that evening 19 points and 8 rebounds and international power forward Nithipol Sawathavorn (189-95) supported him with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four SWU players scored in double figures. SWU's coach Thongchat Phucharoen used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds by American forward Scott Sill (206-92, college: Delaware St.) did not help to save the game for Mad Goat. Point guard Kittimon Wanna (175) added 11 points and 5 assists for the guests. SWU (3-5) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Bangkok Tigers and Thunders. Loser Mad Goat keeps the fourth position with three games lost. SWU will meet at home higher ranked Raptors (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mad Goat will play against the league's second-placed Hitech and it may be a tough game between close rivals. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Shoot it Dragon. They outrebounded Shoot it Dragon 60-34 including a 29-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. Raptors looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Avery Scharer (185-86, college: Shoreline CC) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 15 assists. The other American import center Anthony McClain (211-88, college: Cincinnati) contributed with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. Scharer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. David Causon replied with 16 points and 7 assists and forward Joel Brrokenbrough (200) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Shoot it Dragon. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Raptors maintains third position with 5-2 record having four points less than leader TGE. Newly promoted Shoot it Dragon keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Raptors are looking forward to face SWU (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Shoot it Dragon will play against MUBC in Vietnam and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident. Hitech (7-1) won against visiting Bangkok Tigers (3-5) 87-72. They outrebounded Bangkok Tigers 52-33 including a 23-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hitech players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Wattana Suttisin (183-85) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Sukhdave Ghogar (195-90) who added 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Hitech players scored in double figures. Swingman Adam Stamford (195) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and British forward Joe Mvuezolo (197-96, college: Montana St.) scored 29 points. Bangkok Tigers' coach Sittipong Premprapan rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hitech have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 7-1 record behind leader TGE. Bangkok Tigers at the other side keep the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with SWU and Thunders. Hitech will play against Mad Goat (#4) in Nakorn Phantom in the next round. Bangkok Tigers will play on the road against T-REX in Nakhon Ratchasima and hope to get back on the winning track. Guests from outscored T-REX 87-62. Thunders dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to T-REX's 38. Thunders forced 24 T-REX turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by T-REX's players. T-REX was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Cameroonian forward Gabriel Yeumo (200-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). Cameroonian forward Fils Dongmo (201-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Ngongo Bienvenue (182) replied with 22 points and 9 rebounds and German forward Patrick Braun (198) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for T-REX. Four T-REX players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Thunders moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Bangkok Tigers and SWU. Loser T-REX keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. Thunders will face league's leader TGE in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. T-REX will play against Bangkok Tigers (#6) and hope to win that game. This time they crushed tenth ranked MUBC (0-8) in Vietnam 94-75. TGE players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Anucha Langsui (200-93) who had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 22 rebounds and 5 assists. Nattapol Kupradit (175) chipped in 28 points and 5 assists. Guard Witchaya Phithakphawasutthi (180-0) produced 29 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and point guard Ronnakit Pornjirakittipong (183) added 22 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for the hosts. MUBC's coach Wichan Charoentham tested twelve players seeing no chance for a win. TGE have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. MUBC at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. TGE's next round opponent will be Thunders (#7) where they are favorite. MUBC will play against Shoot it Dragon and hopes to get finally their first victory.
