With their season on the line, the Mono Vampire Basketball Club proved to be resilient once again. The Thailand squad used a strong second half to come up with a 79-71 Game 2 victory over the BTN CLS Knights Indonesia, Wednesday night at the GSB Stadium 29 in Nonthaburi. Michael Singletary (198-F-88, college: Texas Tech) overcame a slow start to end up with 25 points on 5-of-14 shooting to go along with 13 rebounds. 'It's do-or-die. I'm not trying to go home yet,' said Michael Singletary. 'I got great teammates and they just kept telling me to continue to play my game.' Failing to hit a field goal in the first half, Michael Singletary finally found his shot and his rhythm in the third period. That was also when the home team made a significant run and outscored the visitors, 29-19. Aside from Singeltary, Mono received a huge boost from Freddie Lish. 'Freddie came in and he really, really, helped us out of the bench with some energy. We just started rolling there in the third quarter,' shared Michael Singletary. Lish was the much-needed spark for his squad. After a somewhat lethargic showing by Mono in the first two quarters, Lish lit a fire that instigated the third quarter surge. 'We came in with the mindset like our backs were against the wall,' Lish said. The four-year ABL veteran had a stat line of nine points, four rebounds, and three steals. But more than the numbers, it was his tenacity on both ends that motivated his teammates. 'My job as a vet, as a leader on this team, is to come in with that energy whether it's scoring, defense, passing, it doesn't matter, any little thing to help the team out to try to get to the next round,' he pointed out. Mono Vampire kept an arm's length against the Knights in the final period thanks to the duo of Michael Singletary and Romeo Travis (198-PF-84, college: Akron). The two World Imports scored eight points apiece in the payoff period to close out the win. Travis tallied 15 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and two blocks while Malcolm White (205-C/F-88, college: LSU) was huge with 18 points and nine boards before fouling out. For the Knights, Douglas Herring top-scored with 22 points while adding five rebounds and four assists. Maxie Esho (206-F/C-91, college: Massachusetts, agency: Two Points) meanwhile put up a double-double of 17 points, 10 rebounds, and six dimes. The deciding third game of the series will be held this Sunday at GOR Kertajaya in Surabaya, Indonesia. 'Just expect a well-rounded team game from us,' Lish said about Game 3. 'Nothing too much from myself, I'm just gonna do my job, whatever they need me to do.'
