The Guam Men's National Basketball Team cleared another hurdle towards advancing to FIBA Group A, demolishing Thailand 91-70 during Wednesday night's FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Pre-qualifiers in Nonthaburi Stadium, Thailand. With the win, Team Guam improves to 3-0. In their next game, Guam will play Indonesia at 9:30 p.m. (Guam time) on Thursday, Nov. 29. With a 99-54 win against Macau on Wednesday, Indonesia's record sits at 1-1. Guam's Earnest Ross (196-G-91, college: Missouri, agency: Haylett Sports) Jr. scored a game-high 31 points, Tai Wesley chipped in with 21 points. "Earnest was feeling it, and his teammates executed and got him the ball," said Team Guam head coach Edward Calvo . "We know our Team Guam fans and sponsors are behind us, and we promise to play hard, and do our best." The host nation Thailand matched Guam early, trailing by 2 points at the half, 43-41. Guam went to work in the third quarter, dominating on both offense and defense. Allowing only three baskets in that period, Guam soared to a 67-52. Hoping to get firepower from Ross, the sharpshooter heated up in the period, shooting 5 for 7, two from beyond the arc. In the fourth quarter, scoring 8 points from inside the key, Tai Wesley got hot. Trailing big, Thailand tried throwing in desperation 3-pointers, finding the basket only once in nine attempts.
