Moss' 20-rebound monster and Kao's perfect shooting lift Yulon to SBL title defense-May 10, 2026
ulon Luxgen Dinos defended their Super Basketball League championship on Sunday, grinding past Kaiser Keelung Black Kites 75-69 in the decisive Game 3 of the finals to take the best-of-three series 2-1. American center Moss Brandon (204-PF-1994, college: LSUA) anchored the victory with a stat line bordering on absurd: 18 points on 8-of-17 shooting, a game-high 20 rebounds (16 defensive), five assists, and five blocks in a full 40 minutes. The weekly MVP award winner throughout the regular season saved his most complete performance for the biggest game, controlling both ends of the floor with his size and motor. He was named the Finals MVP. But the game-changing contribution came from Cheng-En Kao (175-SG-1999) off the bench. The guard was perfect 6-of-6 from the field (3-of-3 from two, 3-of-3 from three) and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line for 16 points in 22 minutes, a flawless shooting display that swung the momentum decisively in the second quarter. Ming-Yi Lin (176-PG-1996) added 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting with five assists, while Shao-Fu Lan (195-C-1997) contributed eight points and five rebounds. Keelung led 22-19 after a competitive first quarter, but Yulon's 29-12 second period powered by Kao's eruption and Moss' dominance on the boards flipped the game entirely. The hosts took a 48-34 lead into halftime and held on despite a 21-13 Keelung third quarter that cut the deficit to six. Both sides managed just 14 points in a tense fourth as Yulon closed it out. For Keelung, Lewis Wendell (204-C-1989, college: Alabama St.) was a force with 17 points, eight rebounds, and five blocks, but committed five turnovers that proved costly. Yi-Hsiang Chou (191-F) added 16 points and Kai-Hsiang Hu (190-G-1991) had 14, while Chu Yi-tsung contributed eight with three steals. But the Black Kites shot poorly in the decisive second quarter and could not overcome Yulon's rebounding advantage. The series had been a classic. Yulon took Game 1 in a nail-biter 73-70, with Moss producing an extraordinary 40-point, 26-rebound performance. Keelung punched back in Game 2 with a 75-66 road win to force the decider, but Yulon's home-court advantage and Moss' relentless dominance proved the difference in Game 3. Yulon, who topped the regular season at 19-9, retain the title they won last season and extend their dynasty as the SBL's premier force. Asia-Basket.com All-Taiwanese SBL Awards 2026-May 13, 2026
