Cheslek's 18-point, 13-rebound double-double powers Cathay Life to WSBL championship sweep

Cathay Life clinched the 2025-26 Women's Super Basketball League (WSBL) championship on Saturday, dominating Chunghwa Telecom 69-44 in Game 3 to complete a 3-0 sweep of the finals and add another title to the most decorated dynasty in Taiwanese women's basketball.
American center Cheslek Shelby (196-C-1992, college: Gonzaga, agency: LBM Management) was unstoppable in the clincher, scoring 18 points on a ruthless 9-of-13 from the field while hauling in 13 rebounds (10 defensive, three offensive) and adding a steal and a block in 27 minutes — generating a game-high 27 efficiency. Her dominance inside the paint was the defining feature of a contest Cathay Life controlled from tip to buzzer.
The hosts set a suffocating defensive tone from the opening tip, holding Chunghwa Telecom to just 13 first-quarter points while pouring in 24 of their own to establish a 24-13 cushion. A grinding 11-7 second period stretched the halftime advantage to 35-20. Cathay Life piled on the misery with a 24-15 third quarter before both sides exchanged 10-9 in the fourth as the final minutes became a formality.
Ping Luo (168-PG-1996) provided a crucial secondary scoring punch with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting — including two three-pointers — along with three steals and a block in 20 minutes. Ling-Chuan Huang (175-F-1994) added 10 points off the bench, and Yu-Wen Hsiao (184-C-2005) contributed 12 rebounds (six offensive) and a block despite a tough 1-of-8 shooting night. Liu Hui-ru orchestrated the attack with six assists and three steals from the point guard position.
Cathay Life's defense was the story of the series. They held Chunghwa Telecom to just 44 points on 26.3 percent shooting (16-of-67 from the field) while forcing 14 turnovers and generating seven steals. The visitors managed just three-of-18 from three-point range (16.7%) and were outrebounded 47-39.
For Chunghwa Telecom, Brown Oshlynn (185-F, college: Rutgers) was a warrior in defeat with 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds (eight offensive), but shot just 6-of-16 from the field and received minimal support. No other Chunghwa player scored more than seven points, and the team shot a collective 10 percent from beyond the arc (3-of-18).
The title extends Cathay Life's extraordinary stranglehold on the WSBL, where they have been the perennial powerhouse of the competition for decades.
