Yu-Wen Hsiao gets MVP of the Week award for Taiwanese WSBL (by Hoops Agents)

Talented Yu-Wen Hsiao (184-C-2005) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Cathay Life Tigers and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 27.
The 20-year old center had a double-double of 17 points and 20 rebounds, while her team outclassed Taipower (#4, 6-21) with 38-point margin 79-41. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Tigers to consolidate first place in the Taiwanese WSBL. Cathay Life has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 25-2. In the team's last game Hsiao had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. It's her second year at Tigers and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Hsiao has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (2nd best: 14.1ppg), assists (9th best: 2.5apg) and averages solid 1.5bpg and 53.4% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Cathay Life's star - young American center Shelby Cheslek (196-C-1992, agency: LBM Management). Cheslek impressed basketball fans with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course together with Hsiao she helped Cathay Life Tigers with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Taipower (#4, 6-21) 79-41. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Tigers consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. Her team belongs to top of the standings with 25-2 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Cheslek is one of the most experienced players at Tigers and similarly like Yu-Wen Hsiao has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 12.3ppg (#3). Her other stats are also decent: 8.1rpg and 3.2apg.

The third best performed player last round was Wei-Qing Liao (180-C) of Taiyuan Textile (#3). Liao scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. She was a key player of Taiyuan Textile, leading her team to a 68-51 easy win against #2 ranked Chunghua T.. The chances of Taiyuan T. ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 16 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Liao could help Taiyuan T. to bring them higher in the standings. Liao has a great season in Taiwan. After 26 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 9.9ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 5.8rpg (5th best).
