WSBL Round 27 (Regular Season): Taiyuan T. beats Chunghua T. in the most crucial game of the week

An exciting game was when Third ranked Taiyuan Textile faced second-best Chunghwa Telecom. Taiyuan Textile (11-16) defeated Chunghwa Telecom (12-15) 68-51. Taiyuan T. outrebounded Chunghua T. 36-24 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Taiyuan T. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was center Wei-Qing Liao (180) who scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Center Wen-Hsuan Hsu (176-2000) chipped in 10 points and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Hsiang-Ting Huang (180-1993) who recorded 14 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Taiyuan T. maintains third place with 11-16 record having fourteen points less than leader Cathay Life. Chunghua T. lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with 15 games lost.

It was a good game for center Yu-Wen Hsiao (184-2005) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists. Shelby Cheslek contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Tigers' coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. point guard Rui-Zhen Song (160) answered with 11 points for Taipower. Tigers have an impressive series of twenty one victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 25-2 record. Taipower at the other side stay at the bottom position with 21 games lost.

Cathay Life held Taipower to an opponent 20.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Taipower 55-24 including a 38-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cathay Life players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Taipower's players.
