SBL round 5 most important game was a victory of Yulon Luxgen over 4th placed Taiwan Beer 84-75 on Friday night. American Brandon Moss (204-1994, college: LSUA) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 32 points, 18 rebounds and 12 assists. Guard Yi-Kang Tung Fang (182-1997) contributed with 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Gerard Tarin (205-1996, college: Nova SE) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds for Taiwan Beer. Taiwan Beer's coach Meng-Chu Liu rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Yulon Luxgen maintains second place with 6-6 record having just three points less than leader Bank of Taiwan, which they share with Keelung BK. Taiwan Beer lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with seven games lost. Yulon Luxgen is looking forward to face league's leader Bank of Taiwan in Taipei in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Taiwan Beer will play again against Yulon Luxgen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about was the one when fifth ranked Changhua (4-8) saved a 2-point victory edging 4th placed Taiwan Beer (5-7) 83-81 on Saturday evening. American power forward Kwame Alexander (201-1990, college: CSUSB, agency: BIG) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Tien-You Yang chipped in 11 points and 7 assists. American forward Gerard Tarin (205-1996, college: Nova SE) responded with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Changhua maintains fifth place with 4-8 record. Taiwan Beer lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with seven games lost. Changhua will play against league's leader Bank of Taiwan in Taipei in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Taiwan Beer will play against Yulon Luxgen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a loss of second ranked Keelung BK (6-6) against fifth ranked Changhua (4-8) on Sunday night. Keelung BK was defeated by Changhua in a tough game 74-78. Kwame Alexander nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds for the winning side. Changhua's coach Chun-Hsiung Wu used entire bench in such tough game. Wendell Lewis came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for Keelung BK in the defeat. Changhua maintains fifth place with 4-8 record. Keelung BK at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with Yulon Luxgen. Changhua will meet league's leader Bank of Taiwan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Keelung BK will play against Taiwan Beer and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 5: Bank of Taiwan beat Changhua 86-82. Yulon Luxgen lost to Keelung BK 71-83. Taiwan Beer unfortunately lost to Bank of Taiwan 62-73.
The most impressive performance of 5th round was 19 points and 14 rebounds by James Padgett of Bank of Taiwan.

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Bank of Taiwan (9-3) beat bottom-ranked Changhua (4-8) 86-82 on Friday. Bank of Taiwan made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Changhua turnovers. American power forward James Padgett (203-1991, college: Maryland) nailed 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Wei-Cheng Wang (183-1999) accounted for 9 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. American power forward Kwame Alexander (201-1990, college: CSUSB, agency: BIG) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Nigerian forward Ifeanyi Eboka (198-2000) added 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Changhua in the defeat. Four Changhua players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Bank of Taiwan have an impressive series of eight victories in a row.
