Cheslek number one in Taiwan WSBL for round 14

American Center Shelby Cheslek (196-C-1992, agency: LBM Management) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Cathay Life Tigers, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 33-year old player was the main contributor (25 points, two rebounds and five assists) to her team's victory, helping them to outclass Taipower (#3, 5-9) with 50-point margin 99-49. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Tigers to consolidate first place in the Taiwanese WSBL. Cathay Life have a solid 12-2 record. Cheslek just recently signed at Tigers and just after two games she already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Shelby Cheslek averages just after two games 13.5ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was another Cathay Life's star - young Yu-Wen Hsiao (184-C-2005). Hsiao had a very good evening with a double-double of 11 points and 20 rebounds. Of course together with Cheslek she helped Cathay Life Tigers with another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Taipower (#3, 5-9) 99-49. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Tigers consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. Her team lost just two games this season, while they won 12 matches. Hsiao is well-known at Tigers and together with Shelby Cheslek are proven team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.4ppg (#2). She also registered 15.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Oshlynn Brown (185-F) of league's second-best Chunghua Telecom. Brown scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds (!!!). Despite Brown's great performance the Chunghwa Telecom lost 52-64 to #4 ranked Taiyuan T.. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Chunghua T. ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 8 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Brown could help Chunghua T. to bring them higher in the standings. Brown has a great season in Taiwan. After 14 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.8ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 11.4rpg (2nd best).

9. Emily Maupin (192-F-1999) of Taiyuan T. - 13 points and 4 rebounds
10. Yu-Ting Huang (160-PG-1994) of Cathay Life - 3 points and 8 assists
