WSBL Round 8 (Regular Season): Chunghua T. lose to Cathay Life in the game between Top 4 teams

Very significant was Tigers' (#1, 6-2) victory against second-ranked Chunghwa Telecom (3-5) 84-60. Cathay Life dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Chunghwa Telecom's 20. Cathay Life outrebounded Chunghua T. 43-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. Cathay Life looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Ling-Chuan Huang (175-1994) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 4 assists and center Yu-Wen Hsiao (184-2005) who added 10 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. The former international guard Szu-Chin Pan (170-1992) responded with 8 points and 7 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 6-2 record. Chunghua T. at the other side dropped to the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Taiyuan T.. Cathay Life are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Taiyuan T. (#4) in the next round. Chunghua T. will play against the league's second-placed Taipower and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The winners were led by guard Yi-Ting Dai (175-1995) who scored that evening 16 points and Yi-Wen Zhang supported her with 11 points and 5 assists. Power's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds by center Wei-Qing Liao (180) did not help to save the game for Taiyuan T.. Taipower (4-4) moved-up to second place. Taiyuan T. at the other side stay at the bottom position with five games lost. They share it with Chunghua T.. Taipower will play against Chunghua T. (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Taiyuan T. will play against the league's leader Cathay Life and hopes to get back on the winning track.
