WSBL Round 5 (Regular Season): Cathay Life lose their first game against Chunghwa Telecom

After 5 rounds played we can already see who rules in the WSBL and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Tigers (4-1) against third ranked Chunghwa Telecom on Saturday night. Chunghwa Telecom were edged by Chunghwa Telecom 63-61. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Tigers. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. American forward Oshlynn Brown (185, college: Rutgers) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Szu-Chin Pan (170-1992) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Center Yu-Wen Hsiao (184-2005) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Tigers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chunghua T. (2-3) moved-up to second place, which they share with Taipower and Taiyuan T. Defending champion Cathay Life still keeps top position with one game lost. Chunghua T. is looking forward to face Taipower (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cathay Life will play against Taiyuan T. and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a loss of second ranked Taiyuan Textile (2-3) against fourth ranked Power (2-3) on Saturday night. Taiyuan Textile was defeated by Power 87-73. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Point guard Rui-Zhen Song (160) nailed 22 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and Yi-Wen Zhang accounted for 16 points and 6 assists. Guard Yu-Lin Ye (163) came up with 23 points for Taiyuan T. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Taipower moved-up to second place, which they share with Taiyuan T. and Chunghua T. Taipower will play against league's second-placed Chunghua T. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Taiyuan T. will play against the league's leader Cathay Life and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Very important is a loss of second ranked Taiyuan Textile (2-3) against fourth ranked Power (2-3) on Saturday night. Taiyuan Textile was defeated by Power 87-73. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Taipower shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Point guard Rui-Zhen Song (160) nailed 22 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and the former international Yi-Wen Zhang (173-1996) accounted for 16 points and 6 assists. Guard Yu-Lin Ye (163) came up with 23 points and center Wei-Qing Liao (180) added 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Taiyuan T. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Taipower moved-up to second place, which they share with Taiyuan T. and Chunghua T. Taipower will play against league's second-placed Chunghua T. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
