TPBL Round 4 (Regular Season): N.Taipei CTBC hands first defeat to Lioneers

It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in TPBL, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Lioneers (1-1) against first ranked N.Taipei CTBC on Sunday night. N.Taipei CTBC were edged by N.Taipei CTBC 94-91. N.Taipei CTBC forced 21 Lioneers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Swedish forward Viktor Gaddefors (201-1992, agency: 011 Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Montenegrin power forward Nemanja Radovic (208-1991) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. American power forward Drew Pember (211-2000, college: UNC Asheville) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. N.Taipei CTBC have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-1 record. Lioneers at the other side keep the sixth place with one game lost. N.Taipei CTBC are looking forward to face league's second-placed Taiwan Beer L. in Taoyuan in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lioneers will play on the road against Kings (#4) in Taipei and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Dreamers maintains seventh position with 1-4 record. It was Kaohsiung A.'s third loss in a row. They keep the fifth place with five games lost. Dreamers will play against league's leader N.Taipei CTBC at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kaohsiung A. will play against Kings (#4) in Taipei and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

N.Taipei CTBC will meet league's second-placed Taiwan Beer L. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dreamers will play against Lioneers (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 4 Taipei TM defeated Kaohsiung A. 110-105. Kaohsiung A. lost to undefeated Taiwan Beer L. 78-100.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Aquas (2-5) were defeated by sixth ranked Taipei TM (2-1) 110-105 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and American guard Zach Lofton (193-1992, college: NM State, agency: Slash Sports) who added 22 points and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard Justin James (201-1997, college: Wyoming) responded with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and Haitian center Cady Lalanne (208-1992, college: UMass) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Four Taipei TM and five Kaohsiung A. players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Taipei TM moved-up to third place. Kaohsiung A. lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with five games lost. Taiwan Beer L. dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Aquas's 24. Taiwan Beer L. had a 39-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Malcolm Miller (201-1993, college: Holy Cross) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) who added 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest.
