Penina Davidson gets MVP of the Week award for Taiwanese WSBL

New Zealand Penina Davidson (190-F-1995) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Cathay Life Tigers and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 29-year old forward had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, while her team crushed Chunghua T. (#3, 7-14) with 21-point margin 69-48. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Cathay Life maintains the 2nd position in Taiwanese WSBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Cathay Life will need more victories to improve their 16-5 record. Davidson just recently signed at Cathay Life, being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of California graduate has very impressive stats this year. Davidson is in league's top in points (2nd best: 13.2ppg) and averages solid 57.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international guard Szu-Chin Pan (170-G-1992) of Chunghua Telecom. Pan impressed basketball fans with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. It was enough for Chunghwa Telecom to edge Taipower (#4, 0-21) by 4 points 59-55. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Chunghua T. consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-14 record. Pan is one of the most experienced players at Chunghua T. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Chunghua T.'s star - international forward Hsiang-Ting Huang (180-F/C-1993). Huang scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). She was another key player of Chunghua Telecom, helping her team with a 59-55 win against #4 ranked Taipower. The chances of Chunghwa Telecom not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 14 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Huang could try to bring Chunghua T.'s a little bit higher in the standings. Huang has individually a great season in Taiwan. After 20 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 8.1ppg (6th best), rebounds with 5.1rpg (6th best) and assists with 1.3apg (3rd best).

9. Ya-En Han (180-F-1995) of Cathay Life - 11 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Yu-Wen Hsiao (184-C-2005) of Cathay Life - 5 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
