Guelich number one in Taiwan WSBL for round 6 (by Hoops Agents)

German Center Marie Guelich (194-C-1994) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Taiyuan Textile, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds, while her team crushed Cathay Life (#2, 13-5) with 21-point margin 77-56. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Taiyuan Textile to consolidate first place in the Taiwanese WSBL. Taiyuan T. has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 17-1. In the team's last game Guelich had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range. She just recently signed at Taiyuan Textile, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former Oregon State University star has very solid stats this year. Guelich is league's best scorer averaging so far 14.9ppg and leads league in rebounds with 10.4rpg. Guelich is in league's top in assists (7th best: 2.4apg) and averages impressive 1.8bpg and 62.4% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young New Zealand Penina Davidson (190-F-1995) of league's second-best Cathay Life Tigers. Davidson had a very good evening with a double-double of 11 points and 16 rebounds. Of course she led Cathay Life to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Chunghua T. (#3, 6-12) 55-33. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Cathay Life consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. Her team's 13-5 record is not bad at all. Davidson is one of the most experienced players at Cathay Life and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 12.9ppg (#3). She also registered 10.1 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was international forward Yi-Wen Zhang (173-PF-1996) of Taiwan Power (#4). Zhang scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Despite Zhang's great performance the Taipower lost 52-86 to #1 ranked Taiyuan T.. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Taipower can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 18 games. Zhang has individually a great season in Taiwan. After 11 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 11.6ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 4.9rpg (8th best).
