Maccabi Raanana (National League) strengthened their roster with addition of 32-year old American 211cm center Michael Holyfield (college: SHSU). Holyfield started the season at Lioneers in Taiwanese TPBL. In 11 games he recorded 7.5ppg and 10.3rpg. The last season he played also at Lioneers (PLeague+) in Taiwanese league where in 34 games he averaged 11.5ppg, 11.5rpg (#4 in the league) and 1.1bpg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Great season indeed as he was voted to Asia-basket.com All-Taiwanese PLeague+ Honorable Mention and League Player of the Week.
Holyfield is a very experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Australia and of course North America) in ten different countries. He has played previously professionally in Australia (Hawks), China (Guangsha Lions, Beijing and Changsha), Greece (Ionikos), Hong Kong, NBA (Memphis Grizzlies), Taiwan (Pauian), NBA G League (South Bay Lakers and Iowa Wolves), Israel (Afula and Hapoel Holyfieldvel Modi'in), Philippines (HK Eastern) and The Basketball Tournament (Team Colorado and Choice). He played in the final of Southland Conference Tournament in 2014 and 2015.
Holyfield graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2015 and it is his tenth season in pro basketball.
