WSBL Round 2 (Regular Season): Taiyuan T. lose to Cathay Life

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in WSBL. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Taiyuan Textile against Cathay Life on Friday night. Cathay Life were defeated by Cathay Life 70-62. The best player for the winners was New Zealand forward Penina Davidson (190-1995, college: California) who scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. The former international I-Hsiu Cheng (178-1993) chipped in 14 points. International center Tieh Lin (182-1999) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds for Cathay Life. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
An exciting game was when Chunghwa Telecom faced Taipower. Chunghwa Telecom smashed Taipower 62-42. Guard Shi-Zan Xu (164) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 5 rebounds. Hui-Ju Liu contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Chunghwa Telecom's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. You-Xuan Wu replied with 17 points for Taipower.
An exciting game was when Taiyuan Textile faced Chunghwa Telecom. Taiyuan Textile smashed Chunghwa Telecom 81-58. Marie Guelich had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Shi-Zan Xu responded with 8 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Cathay Life defeated Taipower 74-56. Winless Taipower was smashed by Taiyuan T. 53-75. Cathay Life destroyed Chunghua T. 81-56.

An exciting game was when Chunghwa Telecom faced Taipower. Chunghwa Telecom smashed Taipower 62-42. Chunghua T. held Taipower to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Taipower 42-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. Guard Shi-Zan Xu (164) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 5 rebounds. The former international guard Hui-Ju Liu (163-1996) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Chunghwa Telecom's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. You-Xuan Wu replied with 17 points and Rui-Zhen Song added 5 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Taipower.

An exciting game was when Taiyuan Textile faced Chunghwa Telecom. Taiyuan Textile smashed Chunghwa Telecom 81-58. Taiyuan T. made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Taiyuan T. outrebounded Chunghua T. 39-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. German center Marie Guelich (194-1994, college: Oregon St.) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American forward Pei-Xin Song (180-1998, college: UC Davis) chipped in 8 points and 4 assists during the contest. Guard Shi-Zan Xu (164) responded with 8 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Szu-Chin Pan (170-1992) scored 13 points. There was no surprise when Taipower was defeated by Cathay Life 74-56 on Saturday. Cathay Life dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Taipower's 32. Cathay Life forced 21 Taipower turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Center Yu-Wen Hsiao (184-2005) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and New Zealand forward Penina Davidson (190-1995, college: California) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Cathay Life players scored in double figures. Cathay Life's coach Hui-Yun Cheng let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Qin-Yu Huang responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and You-Xuan Wu scored 9 points and 6 rebounds.

No shocking result in a game when Taiyuan Textile smashed Taipower 75-53 on Sunday. Taiyuan T. dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Taipower's 28. They outrebounded Taipower 52-23 including a 21-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Taiyuan T. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International center Tieh Lin (182-1999) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Ching Zhuo (172-1997) chipped in 9 points and 6 assists during the contest. Taiyuan Textile's coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Rui-Zhen Song responded with 13 points and 4 assists and You-Xuan Wu scored 13 points.

Rather expected game when Chunghwa Telecom was rolled over by Cathay Life 81-56 on Sunday. Cathay Life looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Chunghua T.'s players. Center Yu-Wen Hsiao (184-2005) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Chiao-Chun Huang (171-2001) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Guard Shi-Zan Xu (164) responded with 14 points and 4 assists and the former international guard Hui-Ju Liu (163-1996) scored 6 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest.
