Experienced American John Fields (205-F/C-1988) had a great game in the last round for league's leader Taiwan Beer and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents SBL Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 35-year old power forward had a double-double of 32 points and 12 rebounds, while his team edged out Bank of Taiwan (#3, 13-14) 89-85. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Taiwan Beer to consolidate first place in the Taiwanese SBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Taiwan Beer has a very solid 19-8 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Fields just recently signed at Taiwan Beer, being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of Tennessee graduate has very impressive stats this year. Fields is in league's top in points (2nd best: 23.0ppg) and averages solid 1.2bpg and 73.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American power forward Brandon Moss (207-PF-1994) of second-ranked Yulon Luxgen Dinos. Moss impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 26 points and 18 rebounds. Of course Yulon Luxgen cruised to a 84-77 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Bank of Taiwan (#3, 13-14). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Yulon Luxgen consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team's 14-13 record is not bad at all. Moss is a newcomer at Yulon Luxgen and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Mongolian Cheng-An Hsieh (191-G-2000) of Changhua (#4). Hsieh scored 21 points and passed 5 assists. Despite Hsieh's great performance the Changhua lost 85-90 to #1 ranked Taiwan Beer. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Changhua can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 8-19 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Hsieh has a very solid season. In 27 games in Taiwan he scored 8.6ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Chia-Ho Chang (188-G-1996) of Bank of Taiwan - 25 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Han Kuo (195-F-1998) of Changhua - 15 points and 12 rebounds
6. Gabriel Humphery (195-F-1997) of Taiwan Beer - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Erdenetsetseg Sugar-Ochir (200-C-1999) of Changhua - 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Maurice Calloo (208-F-1999) of Bank of Taiwan - 30 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Zong-Lin Lu (175-G-1994) of Taiwan Beer - 18 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Yu-Hsu Chen (195-F/G-1990) of Bank of Taiwan - 20 points and 2 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.

The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
