Cayla George (ex Sydney) joins Cathay Life

Cathay Life Tigers (WSBL) have agreed terms with experienced 34-year-old Australian international center Cayla George (193cm-1989). She recently played for Sydney Flames in the Australian WNBL, where she averaged 12.5ppg, 9.6rpg, 3.8apg, 1.6spg, and 1.4bpg in 21 games last season. She had a good year and was named League Player of the Week. Last summer, she played for Aces in the WNBA.
She has been a member of the Australian international program for several years. She has played for the Australian senior team since 2011 and previously for the University National Team in 2011.
She also represented Australia at the FIBA World Cup for Women in Sydney (Australia) two years ago. Her team won Bronze and her stats at that event were 8 games: 8.6ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.8apg, 1.0bpg, FGP: 45.9%, 3PT: 37.5%, FT: 80.0%.
She is a very experienced player. George's career has taken her to three continents and she has played in four countries. She has played professionally in Australia (Townsville Fire, Boomers, Meteorettes, Dolphins, and Huskies), France (Nantes), Hungary, and the WNBA (Connecticut Sun, Dallas Wings, and Phoenix Mercury).
In 2023, she was voted Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL Player of the Year.
