Lioneers tab Michael Holyfield, ex H.Hevel Modi'in

Michael Holyfield

The Hsinchu Lioneers (PLeague+) have signed Michael Holyfield, a 31-year-old American center who stands at 211cm tall and played college basketball at SHSU. Holyfield was the top rebounder for H.Hevel Modi'in in the Israeli National League last season, averaging impressive stats of 17.5 points per game, 14.1 rebounds per game, and 2.1 blocks per game in 23 games. He was recognized as the League Player of the Week four times and was selected to the Eurobasket.com All-Israeli National League Third Team. In the summer of 2022, he played for Choice in the U.S. semi-pro league, The Basketball Tournament.
He's a highly experienced player, having played professionally in eight different countries across four continents. He's played for the Hawks in Australia, Guangsha Lions, Beijing, and Hunan in China, Ionikos in Greece, HK Eastern in Hong Kong, the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA, Pauian in Taiwan, and the South Bay Lakers and Iowa Wolves in the NBA G League.
His team won the Israeli National League State Cup in 2022, among many other awards. In the same year, he was voted to the Eurobasket.com All-Israeli National League Honorable Mention.
He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2015, and this upcoming season will mark his ninth in professional basketball.
